Attendance
Good school attendance gives your child the opportunity of success and helps develop skills for life. Your child should attend school every day unless there is an unavoidable cause such as illness that prevents attendance. Each term, we will get in touch in writing or by face to face to discuss any concerns we have over a child's attendance. Please see the below poster for support in deciding on whether your child should attend school or not.
You can fnd our attendance policy via: https://www.stbernardsprimary.co.uk/Policies/
Since September 2024, new attendance requirements are now in place. These have been communicated with all parents. As a result of this, there are new attendance procedures/processes in place.
Attendance is being monitored every 2 weeks with attendance of any child below 94% being tracked. Where attendance is a concern, the following procedure is actioned:
1. Low level attendance concern: early intervention letter to parent carer
2. Continued low-level issue: in person conversation
3. Continued concerns: SAM (School Attendance meeting arranged). Evidence of illness letter might be requested and supportive discussions with clear objective to improve
4. Deeper concerns: Non-Attendance Meeting (NAM) arranged and a deeper investigation and a warning around stage 5.
5. If required, Local Authority Referral.
