January - February 2021: Currently, we are in another national lockdown. The government has asked that, where possible, children should attend where they have one or more parents who meet the government's critical worker criteria; also attending are  those children who are deemed as vulnerable. Here at St Bernard's we have had to limit these numbers (of critical worker's children) because after closely considering applications and employment evidence from parents and carers, we would have exceeded safe numbers in school.

Home learning:  We have designed an improved home learning package where children receive direct (recorded) lesson input from their class teachers. We are working on less need for technology and trying to lessen time spent learning using screens. Home learning is well-known as difficult to administer, if you are finding it very difficult to keep up with, please get in touch for advice or solutions.  If you would like to share difficulties you are currently having please don't hesitate to call 0117 903 0352 or email:  homelearning@stbernardsprimary.co.uk

Wellbeing: We realise this is a very challenging time for our families and staff, please take a look at these tips to help protect your own and your family's wellbeing during these times. If you would like to share difficulties you are currently having please don't hesitate to call 0117 903 0352 or email:  welfare@stbernardsprimary.co.uk

For those attending school: children must not attend school if they have symptoms or are self-isolating due to symptoms in their household. If your child were to become unwell at school they would need to be collected promptly and would remain in an isolation area until collected.  These self-isolation restrictions will apply: 7 days for anyone with symptoms and 10 days for anyone else in their household.  Parents should contact school (0117 903 0352 or email school@stbernardsprimary.co.uk) immediately if their child begins to show any symptoms, we can advise on testing and inform other  parents in the group. If a child, or adult, in the cohort tests positive then the whole group would need to follow appropriate self-isolation guidelines.
